A Poem for Thought

Moral Decay is No Excuse

Purity is all about what you choose
Today's society is morally corrupt
But moral decay is no excuse

For a moment of pleasure, what you loose
Inner standards of morals then interrupt
Purity is all about what you choose

Living life to that of society's views
Where one's Holy Spirit can be disrupt
Purity is all about what you choose

Although the world says it's impossible
We can walk in spirit of purity
As Christ's guidance makes it possible

Treasure and guard it with His security
It's a prize that's worth holding onto tight
One should protect it in obscurity

When in the world you've given into sight
Purity is all about what you choose
In choosing Christ in this He gives you light
Knowing moral decay is no excuse

Thoughts: Even in a society of moral decay, it is possible to stay pure. Although, most look at staying sexually pure until marriage or practicing abstinence as archaic-like something out of the history books-and call it completely irrelevant or impractical in today's society. The only difference in today's society and in the Biblical society is technology where impurity can be more widely broadcast. Our society today is no more morally decayed than it was in the Biblical days. Some religions in Biblical days even practiced sexual activities as part of their rituals. With God purity is possible and once one gets that realization, he or she will experience the supernatural power of God in his or her life.  Purity is a prized possession that is both powerful and protecting. Powerful purity because the Holy Spirit lives within you as a confessed Christian and He is a pure and powerful entity that can empower you through temptation in maintaining  your prize and privilege of purity. Protecting purity comes from the consequences of impurity; such impacting and negative consequences as physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual damages that impurity creates. 1 Corinthians 6:13 says "Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body" (NKJV). And "Or did you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you where bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20. NKJV). In knowing this, one should want to protect the precious gift of purity. Now some may be thinking, it's too late. But, our God is a God of second chances. Although, the world may say impossible, the Lord says possible. The Lord is a God of secondary purity and of defeating the impossible. It may just take longer than being birthed into purity; but, is possible with God. Purity is not just one who has not had sex-Yes Mostly-but it is also a heart, soul, and mind purity. Remaining or maintaining purity also is not a burden, nor an obligation; it's a privilege. In a world where most think purity is ancient and impossible, the Lord says come with Me, I will show you how to achieve purity through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Know that purity is a gift that warrants your protection and in safe guarding that gift moral decay is no excuse.

Note: Have you ever heard about dimensioning return? Remember the first time you went to the beach, how exciting that was for you. Every sense was heightened in taking in that experience as a fabulous one. The sound of the waves rushing onto the beach was fantastic, the sand moving between your toes and the scene of a never ending water world was an experience all new to you. It was very exciting. But, now you have gone to that same beach many times and the excitement isn't the same. The experience isn't as trilling as it was the first time. The return of the trilling experience from going to the same beach after many times is less intense as it used to be; thus, diminished. It would take more and more different beaches to get that same excitement and even then, it would never be as fabulous as the first time. Well, I hope you get my point as you apply the law of diminishing return to remaining sexually pure. One little kiss want hurt, one might tell you. But, after several kisses what comes next, a tongue (the No Zone), then it would take more and more to achieve that excitement of the first kiss again and before you know it, you are partaking in sexually immoral activities as an unmarried couple. Don't let temptation diminish your prized possession of purity in taking the excitement and preciousness of that purity that is meant for you and that special person God has for you. Saying No is a gift too, believe it or not. Women as emotional creatures, saying No helps us in keeping our emotions in check, because let's face it we fall for a guy and put our emotions in it much deeper than they do; thus, helps keep ourselves safe and respectful. For men, in hearing No (even saying No, if he's a decent guy), helps him maintain respect for the woman, also helps him in maturity as he has to step up or step out. You are giving yourself a gift and the other, as well. So, purity a burden or obligation, I think not. It's a prized possession, guard it as such, as it guards you!

If you have compromised your purity, don’t believe the words of the enemy. You are worthy and you can experience hope and healing in the arms of our Lord!
