A Poem of Thought

  Keep Your Day

Staying focused on You, this day I pray
On my day of rest in thinking of You
My Lord, help me to keep Your day

Sometimes this day my mind does stray
Where to other things my thoughts only grew
Staying focused on You, this day I pray

Life sometimes takes my thoughts of You away
I try my best in making them stay
My Lord, help me to keep Your day

For the sabbath is a day of rest
Seven days a week, this be just one
Where to Him my thoughts and actions attest

Giving You praise this day my work is done
Resting in Him on this day of the week
Building my strength with You, my thoughts undone

Thoughts of work out of sight, its You I seek
Staying focused on You, this day I pray
With my thoughts on You this day of the week
My Lord, help me to keep You day

Thoughts: What one day of the week is the Sabbath that we are to keep holy? "Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you". (Deuteronomy 5:12. NKJV). Well, from what I know and have examined, it is man that created Sunday as God's Holy Day. I believe the Catholic church, through the then Pope, announced and implemented Sunday as God's holy day. But, the Bible does not point out any particular day of the week as the Sabbath.  "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God." (Exodus 20:8-10. NKJV). It doesn't matter what is your six days of the week you work, only that you rest in the Lord on your seventh day of the week. Many people do not have a choice rather to work on Sunday or not. We, as Christians, go to church on Sunday because that is the day that most churches celebrate this one day a week in observance of this one day a week of rest; only. This day of rest was given to man by God, not man made for this day. "And He said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man made for the Sabbath. Therefore, the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath". (Mark 2:27-28. NKJV). God gave us a day to rest from our labors as a gift to humanity. We praise Him in appreciation in keeping our thoughts on Him and our actions holy on one day a week in honor of this gift. It can be a challenge sometimes, when one has to work seven days a week, or have laboring things that need to be done on that seventh day. But, even in these times, keeping one's thoughts on the Lord is honoring and giving thanks to God for this one day a week of rest He gave us; no matter, what that one day is. Now, I'm not saying that only that one day a week one should have one's thoughts resting in God. No! I am saying, however, the Sabbath is not one particular day of the week one should keep as holy, as Sunday that man made, rather it is just one day a week whatever day of the week it ends being. Even though, a challenge for me at times, I ask the Lord to help me keep this one day a week, His day, holy.

Happy Valentine, Love of my heart!

“For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:14-19. NKJV).  Happy Valentine’s Day All Precious Hearts Everyday

Holy Spirit- Acrostic Poem

"But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him." (1John 2:27. NKJV) "Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." (Romans 15:13. NKJV). "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you." (John 14:26. NKJV). "The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God," (Romans 8:16. NKJV). "By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit." (1 John 4:13. NKJV). "For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all b

Two poems preview for "Growing Strong in The Lord - part one"

Here two more preview poems from my Growing Strong in The Lord Collection. These are from where I left off in my Part One previews. I will be mostly posting preview poems, as promised, from my published books. Rarely will you see a new poem here on this site. These two poems from my Growing Strong in The Lord- Part One, "I Am Sowed By God's Words" , came out of knowing God was with me during an impact with my car and a full grown and huge doe deer. I listed these two poems just days apart, as I still felt the grace God delivered me that fateful day; reminding me of His grace and presence throughout my life.  It's Not Luck, But Grace ⭐ When one is thrown a curve ball Like something unexpected takes place That can bring an unforeseen pitfall One holds tight and does brace As one calls on the Lord above all He then sees you through this place In the aftermath you then recall The Lord got you through, you embrace For He can, no matter how big or small And then you rea
