Comes at a Cost
When it seems to you something was lost
This thing you held onto that made you, you
Spiritual maturity comes at a cost
In faith you gave it not to be tossed
Precious to you as others had no clue
When it seems to you something was lost
Expectancy to exclusivity crossed
To this where one's being greatly grew
Spiritual maturity comes at a cost
No promises made to your being was made
Thou hard when that part of you did exist
Harder to move past when to this it fade
Your spirit then only wants it missed
Into prayer your soul does beckon
Where this part of you the Lord has kissed
Making you no less to Him or second
When it seems to you something was lost
Moving on to say to self I reckon
As spiritual maturity comes at a cost

Thoughts: Sometimes we hold onto a part of us that prevents us from spiritually growing. As we have engrained into our own thoughts that part of us is what makes us righteous in God's eyes and acceptable to others. When that part of us may just need to be trimmed off in order to mature in becoming the Christian He wants us to be. We must not think ourselves so righteous that we place ourselves on a thrown; expecting to be treated as a kings or queens by others in holding onto a part of us that we may only see as precious. Although it seems like loosing a precious piece of yourself, the reward in spiritual growth may well exceed this cost because sometimes spiritual maturity comes at a cost.
