Modern Love
It comes and goes as a fly away dove
Never the heart and soul be touched
In this world where there be modern love
Where devotion gives way to self free of
And the strain on one's heart then untouched
It comes and goes as a fly away dove
Forgetting it was first sent from above
Not realizing to the soul it is clutched
In this world where there be modern love
It's old as the world its day created
For out of love God gave us this place
As deep down in our heart and soul its fated
But we let it go without a trace
To the cold that lies outside our being
Where to surface the things we embrace
For of the world our flesh is seeing
It comes and goes as a fly away dove
As to our heart and soul this is freeing
In this world where there be modern love

Thoughts: Love is not a modern thing. It has been around since creation and before. But in our world today love has taken on a new meaning as a cold and surface focused thing. It's ashamed that because of our modern times people forgot what real love is all about. It is supposed to be a thing of the heart and soul, not about how good someone looks or about giving of one's self in a sexual manner. But so many mistaken this kind of attention or affection as love because it eases them of the devotion and care that comes from deep down that real love is about in our world where there be modern love.
